What is a Will?
"A will or testament is a legal declaration by which a person, the testator, names one or more persons to manage his/her estate and provides for the transfer of his property at death."
What is a Trust?
"A trust agreement is a document that spells out the rules that you want followed for property held in trust for your beneficiaries. Common objectives for trusts are to reduce the estate tax liability, to protect property in your estate, and to avoid probate."
Do I need a Will or Trust?
If you are married and/or have children, you should consider having a Will and/or a Trust in place. These documents can protect your assets and make sure they are managed and distributed in the manner you direct in the event you die or are severly incapacitated through one of life's unexpected events. Without such document, the State of Illinois will decide who receives your assets through its laws of intestacy.
